New Affordable Housing Development Proposed for Bozeman
Posted on February 20, 2025Proposed New Affordable Housing Development
Developers are proposing a 145-unit affordable housing apartment project on Huffine Lane in west Bozeman. The proposed Roers Affordable Housing project would be located within the larger Urban Farm development, on the north side of Huffine, west of Cottonwood Road. This four-story building will have a mix of unit sizes, including 59 two-bedrooms, 66 three-bedrooms, and 20 four-bedrooms, catering to families of various sizes.
The project is seeking Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) funds through the state. This program would ensure that the apartments are available to individuals and families earning no more than 60% of the area median income (AMI). Furthermore, these units would be deed-restricted as affordable for a minimum of 30 years.
Beyond just providing shelter, the Roers project aims to create a community. Plans include a fitness center, a dog park, and other shared facilities, enhancing the living experience for residents. The 3.3-acre site is part of larger Urban Farm development that is envisioned as a mixed-use space, incorporating single-family and multi-family residential buildings, along with commercial and retail spaces. Construction could begin in the second half of 2025 if the project moves forward.
